Healthy Rice is a mobile-first application designed to assist Cambodian rice farmers in identifying, understanding, and managing crop diseases through image-based guidance, Khmer language support, and offline usability.
To design a user-friendly mobile application that provides visual, audio, and Khmer language support to Cambodian farmers with limited digital or reading skills.
To ensure offline functionality, enabling disease detection and learning in areas with poor internet connectivity.
To build an admin web portal for agricultural officers to easily mange disease data and articles and send updates to farmers
To deliver a visual-first and minimal interface accessible on low-end Android devices common in rural Cambodia.

Cambodian farmers lack easy-to-understand, localized tools to detect and manage rice diseases.
Existing apps are mostly in English, require internet, and do not support low-literacy users.
Agricultural officers have no centralized system to manage disease data or communicate with farmers
Poor digital access in rural areas makes it difficult to distribute critical farming knowledge efficiently.
Mobile's Feature

First use screen where users have to select languages for their default app languages.
Details page that contains disease images, names, and descriptions that are divided by section titles and a Text-To-Speech (TTS) feature for users to play audio.
Disease lists are in each category of rice crop part for easy exploration of disease information.
Home screen that contains the weather, quick disease search, diseases grouped by crop part, most viewed diseases, most viewed library, and navbar, which is a quick access from page to page. The design focuses on visuals first and less text.
Notifications page where users get the alert of outbreak, weather temperature, news diseases, and other information from the admin.
Instructions for scanning or uploading the right image of rice plant disease for farmers to follow the correct detection requirements.
